Silver Hawk

A behind the scenes tale of The Hawks Early Years

Becoming a wrestler

Recruitment of this individual almost never happened. After a number of weeks discussing weather or not to even give him a chance it was decided that he would not be allowed to even try out for the wrestling. It was late 1999 and there was a lot going on in the wrestling at the time and the company was having to make some very hard decisions on who to keep and who to let go. The decision that he would not get a chance to try out came from the President of the DWO at the time The Brickwall Alan Main. A few days later the CEO of the company (Alex), sat down with Hawk and talked to him about wrestling after a short conversation Alex overruled the Brickwall’s decision and decided that Hawk would be allowed to enter the company and did so without even having to try out. For the first 2 or 3 weeks Hawk spent hours in front of the camera doing promo footage getting Hawk used to acting natural in front of the camera. After that Hawk was finally given his first match against The Cool Dude. The match was a little shaky and wasn’t too much to brag about but it was evident that Hawk did have potential of becoming a great superstar

Troubles for a rookie

Silver Hawk is known as being one of the first of what is called the Second generation of the DWO. He came to the company at the end of 99' The first year as a wrestler can be the hardest some say and Hawk would have a very hard rookie year for sure. Silverhawk to this day does not know of everything that happened during his first year. There was a lot that went on backstage that kept Hawk back right from the get go. The Brickwall unhappy about Hawk becoming a wrestler even after his protest would be one of the largest problems for Hawk. The anger Alan had for Hawk because of this decision would be one that would cause a rivalry between the 2 that would last for years to come. The first things Alan did to Hawk were done backstage and without Hawk even knowing about it. Alan would demand that Hawk not be able to wrestle certain matches do to his inexperience. In early 2000 Alex the Maniac decided to schedule a World title match that would be between the current champion at the time The Brickwall and Silverhawk. Before this match could even be written down on paper the Brickwall refused the match saying that Hawk was to inexperienced and did not deserve a title shot he also told the CEO that if he put him in the match he would quit the DWO. Do to the years that Alan had put into the company Alex did not feel at that time comfortable with letting him go so he canceled the match before Hawk could even find out about it. Do to that incident Alex did however decide to revoke The Brickwall’s power as president of the DWO. During all of this The Silverhawk unaware of what was going on behind the scene was becoming a great wrestler learning more with every match it was starting to become very noticeable that the SILVERHAWK would be a force to be reckoned with.

 Becoming a Star

Hawk had a lot to learn to become a star. He would have to overcome many obstacles that would stand in his way. One of his hardest obstacles to overcome would be himself. Before becoming a wrestler Hawk had a very calm life, he mostly played by the rules and trouble wasn’t something he would generally go looking for. He was an assistant to the coach of the CF high school basketball team more or less really just a water boy if you know what I mean. He had a lack of confidence and wasn’t one who liked confrontation. Hawk was the silent type who mostly stuck to himself. Becoming a wrestler changed all of that, as he would learn to stick up for himself. With the backstage help of a few veteran wrestlers Hawk learned a lot in a short period of time.

A Falling Star

Another one of Silver Hawk’s biggest set backs would be simply a matter of bad timing. Hawk can be considered one of the first stars of the new era. 1998 was the end of the old school era and many things had changed after that. Anyone who was in the company since 98 or earlier was considered by many as the best. Hawk came in 1999 at a time when the veterans of the company were not willing to accept the changes that were occurring. The older wrestlers like The Brickwall, Kaos, and James were not willing to see a rookie become a champion and protested against any title shot that Hawk would be given. SilverHawk would have to prove himself in the wrestling and to do this he would have to do twice as much work as anyone else just to get noticed. Working as hard as he was and with nothing to show for it was starting to wear down on Hawk after awhile. SilverHawk held a number of smaller titles but after all the work he had put in he felt he deserved more then that. He was right of course, he did deserve a shot at the bigger belts but confrontations backstage would keep any title shot for Hawk in the distant future still yet.

 Becoming the Best

In the winter of 2000 Silverhawk would finally get a shot at one of the higher titles. It would be a shot for the Intercontinental title against The Brickwall. If Silverhawk won the title in this match it would guarantee him the right at a World title shot. Unfortunately this wasn’t meant to be, as the Brickwall would hold Hawk back yet again. Silverhawk was already worn out from a match earlier that night in which he had won the right to compete for the intercontinental title. On top of that the weather was also not on Hawk’s side as it snowed out right before the match against Alan and it was still snowing during the match DWO still being a outdoor company at the time could partialy be to blame for Hawks loss that night and the hard conditions the DWO wrestlers were forced to endure. Hawk already worn down and on slippery ground he would have to give it his all to win the match on the other hand the Brickwall was completely rested it being his first match of the night and he had plenty of energy for the match. It was a close competition but the Brickwall managed to hold Hawk back and kept the title. This would be a step backwards for Hawk but he didn’t give up instead he pushed forward with twice as much effort.

Joining Damage Inc.

In 2001 Hawk would enter Tag team action with an unlikely partner. Silverhawk would join Vandal-X to form the tag team Damage Incorporated. Soon after forming this team manager Black Widow would join the group. Vandal-X who was also having trouble with his solo career made a great partner as both were driven athletes both looking to become the best. The team quickly shot up the tag team ranks to become the tag team champions. Damage Inc would be considered one of the best tag teams of this era. Silverhawk maintaining his beliefs in following the rules made things interesting, as the other 2 members of his team would tend to break the rules. With there finishing move the FINAL DEAL damage inc not only claimed and kept there tag team titles but they cemented themselves in the history books of DWO and will always be known as the team that changed the way tag team wrestling was done.

In 2003 Hawk would leave DWO and work for UJW which was run for only a few weeks by J MAN the manager of the Elite.
SilverHawk would return to DWO for Saterday Night Mayhem in the end of 2003.

Only a few minor shows and matches occured in 2004 and 2005 none of which Hawk was involved in when DWO would return full force in 2006 Hawk would get the chance he had waited his whole career for.

From 2003 till the Big return in 2006 there was No DWO world champion

In 2006 Silverhawk would Finaly find his chance at the world title. The vacant title would be on the line in the Main event of END OF SILENCE in a match between Silverhawk and Hellzspawn. Neither wrestler had ever won the world title at that point in there career.
Silverhawk would pull of the win and walk away for the first time World champion.
CEO of the company Alex the Maniac was special guest ref of the match and handed Hawk the title and shook his hand and congragulated him. In a shocking turn of events Hawk would hit Alex 3 times with the belt and screamed at him that it was what he got for holding him back for all the years.
Just 1 show later Hawk would find himself again in heartbreak lossing the world title to Hak Hansen.

Since then some say that Hawk was never a true DWO World champion having never won the title off of a actual champion at any time.

At the end of 2007 Hawk was fired from DWO only to be allowed to return a few months later at the start of the 2008 season. On troubled ground Hawk would defy the DWO's head officials a number of times during this season.
Hawk would get the job of Commisioner of DWO Extreme only to have it taken away a few months later.
Silverhawks career looked unceartain. in a last effort to bring himself back to the top he would recruit Azkin Ryzier to become his new partner forming a new Damage Inc. Vandal-X and Silverhawk would
battle backstage over the rights of the Damage Inc. name only to have Hawk continue to use the name until Azkin was released from the company.

2009 would mark the end of Silverhawks career. Hawk for the last few years in the DWO had seemed to drift into a unfamilier territory he seemed out of it at shows. suspected of being addicted to pain medication and booze Hawks abilty to climb back to the top would be tested time and time again. it all seemed to overwhelm silverhawk and finaly in 2009 Hawk would walk away from the ring. No return date has been set and it is unclear if silverhawk will ever wrestle again.
